2/3/19: Granted municipal consent to hold the Pre Game 4 Miler. Organizers: Chris Russo and Heather McDermott - Superhero Events, LLC - Superhero Half Marathon and Relay Date: Sunday February 3, 2019 (rain date February 10, 2019, time:10:00 A.M. at the Ginty Field Complex at Woodland Avenue and Dwyer Lane. Expected number of participants: 800, Police: Morris Township Police Officers will be used as needed. The race will take place on the approved 5K roads.
2/12/19-2/1419-Morris Township Emergency Management Association, partnering with the Morris Township FMBA to hold their annual “Rose Sale” fundraiser at the Hillside Firehouse on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 from 12:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, February 13, 2019 from 8:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M., and Thursday, February 14th , 2019 from 7:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. with a setup time on Monday, February 11, 2019– will be taking pre-orders
3/16/19:Granted municipal consent to hold the St. Paddy’s Day 5K. Organizers: Chris Russo and Heather McDermott - Superhero Events, LLC – Saturday, March 16, 2019 (rain date March 23, 2019, time:10:00 A.M. Parking areas: Ginty Pool, Loantaka park, Township Municipal Parking Lots, South St. Office Building lots. Staging area will be the Ginty Field. Township Roads: Dwyer Lane, Fanok Rd., Kitchell Road, Spring Valley Road Expected number of participants: 700. Police: Morris Township Police Department for traffic control. Charity group: Police Unity Tour, Morristown High School Track and Field Association.
4/7/19:Granted municipal consent to the Morris Township PBA Local Number 133 to sponsor the “Cops and Robbers” 5K Fundraiser on April 7, 2019 (rain or shine) at 9:00 A.M. at the Ginty Field Complex at Woodland Avenue and Dwyer Lane. Morris Township PBA#133 will be the beneficiary of the event and traffic control will be provided by its members.
4/25/19: Granted consent to Atlantic Health System for an Atlantic Ambulance helicopter to land on the field at Loantaka Park (has received approval from the Morris County Park Commission) for “Take Your Child to Work Day” on April 25, 2019. Landing will take place between the hours of 11:00 A.M. to 2:30 P.M..
5/8/19-5/10/19: Granted permission, to Saint Virgil Church, 250 Speedwell Avenue, Morris Plains, NJ to hold its’ annual carnival May 8, 2019 - May 10, 2019 hours 6-10 P.M. and on May 11, 2019 hours 4-10 P.M.; granted permission to exceed 10 P.M. end time on May 11, 2019 for cleanup purposes.
5/19/19:Granted municipal consent to hold the 9th Annual Superhero Half Marathon and Relay Race. Organizers: Chris Russo and Heather McDermott - Superhero Events, LLC - Superhero Half Marathon and Relay Date: Sunday, May 19, 2019(rain date: May 26, 2019) Time: 8:30 A.M. Parking areas: Ginty Pool, Municipal Parking Lots, and Woodland Avenue School. Staging/start/registration area: Ginty Field, near the Police Station Garage. Relay exchange area: Ginty Field, in front of the Morris Twp. Fire Station. Finish Area: Loantaka Park's South St. parking lot/fields. EMT Units would also be stationed at the finish area. Expected number of participants: 1,500. Police: Morris Township, Park, Harding, Madison and Chatham Police would be hired to control traffic as necessary. Charity group: NJ Battered Women’s Service. Sponsors: Argent Heating and Cooling, Normandy Real Estate, Gary's Wine and Marketplace, James O’Rourke Physical Therapy, and Ogletree Deakins Law Firm. Township roads that will be utilized for this event will be: Fanok, Symor, Spring Valley, Southgate Parkway, Woodland, Kitchell, Blackberry Lane, Dwyer, and Hadley Way.
5/27/19: Granted municipal consent to the Morristown Rotary, in conjunction with the Morris Township Recreation Department, to hold “the Original Music Fest” on Monday, May 27, 2019 at the Gazebo. Setup time will be 11:00 A.M.. This event will have bands, crafts and games for children that will be run by the Rotarians; there will be two (2) food trucks
6/2/19:Granted municipal consent to the P.G. Chambers School, 15 Halko Drive, Cedar Knolls, NJ 07927 to hold their 7 th annual Walk, Run, Fun 5K fund raiser to be held on Sunday, June 2, 2019 with a setup time of 7:00 A.M., start time of race 8:30 A.M. at Ginty Field, Woodland Avenue. The 5K run/walk includes the following Township roadways: Dwyer Lane, Fanok Road, Symor Drive, Woodland Avenue, Kitchell Road, Spring Valley, South Street, finish time is approximate 11:00 P.M.(includes breakdown time) at Ginty Field
6/8/19: Granted municipal consent for the 11th Annual Morris Area Freewheelers Foundation Revolutionary Ramble Bike tour that will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2019. The purpose of the Ramble is to support local area all-volunteer first aid squads and to promote safe cycling. The cyclists will share the roads with vehicle traffic. The event is not a race, no request for road closures. The roads that will be used will be: Mendham Road, Washington Valley Road, Whitehead Road, School house Lane, Gaston Road, and Sussex Avenue.
8/24/19: Granted municipal consent to Heather McDermott and Magdiel Irizarry, FTF, LLC to hold a Food Truck and Family Fun Fest at Ginty Field, on Saturday, August 24, 2019 with a rain date of Sunday, August 25, 2019 from 11:00 am – 7:00 pm; Charity: Homeless Solutions. There would be twenty (20) food trucks, three (3) bands (in gazebo) and activities for children. It is anticipated that there will be approximately 3,500 people in attendance. The Morris Township Police and Fire Fighters would also be invited to set up booths and sell food as fundraisers for their organizations. Parking will be on Morris Township Police Parking lot, 50 Woodland Avenue, Woodland School, local Streets, and Ginty Pool.
9/7/19: The Seeing Eye, Mendham Road will be holding the sixth annual “The Seeing Eye Doggy Dash and 5K fundraising and awareness event on September 7, 2019 from 8:00 A.M. to 11 A.M. and is expecting 150 participants. The event would be a fundraising walk for humans and canines and a new 5k run to celebrate The Seeing Eye’s 90th anniversary. The 5K run request includes portions of Morris Township roads: James Street, Strawberry Lane, Applewood Lane, Cottonwood, Bell Drive and the approval to set up a course on these roads for 30 to 60 minutes
9/8/19: Granted consent to conduct the “Gran Fondo NJ” bicycle event on Morris Township roads on Sunday, September 8, 2019.The event is a 107 mile bicycle tour beginning and ending in Morristown, NJ. It is a fundraiser for local charities, primarily for the Seeing Eye. The cyclists will share the roads with vehicle traffic. The event is not a race, no request for road closures. The roads that will be used will be: Mendham Road, Washington Valley Road, Whitehead Road, School house Lane, Gaston Road, and Sussex Avenue.
9/14/19-9/15/19: Annual bicycling fundraiser by the National MS Society known as the MS: Country Challenge. The riders will be riding through Morris Township, using Burnham Road and Washington Valley Road as part of the event on Saturday, September 14, 2019 and Sunday, September 15, 2019.
9/15/19: Granted municipal consent to the annual Miles for Melanoma to conduct a 5K run/walk and a two (2), mile walk fundraiser in the Township on Sunday, September 15, 2019 with setup time of 5:00 A.M. and a starting time of 9:00 A.M. at Ginty Field, Woodland Avenue. The 5K run/walk includes the following Township roadways: Dwyer Lane, Fanok Road, Symor Drive, Woodland Avenue, Kitchell Road, Spring Valley, South Street.
9/22/19: Granted consent for the 2019 Tour de Summer Camp charity bike ride that will take place on Sunday, September 22, 2019. The ride will start at St Elizabeth's College and will be using the following Township Roads: James Street, Southgate Parkway, Laura Lane, Blackberry Lane and Spring Valley Road. Riders will obey the entire rules-of-the road and no road closures required. The riders will be passing through Morris Township at the end of the ride so they will be broken into small groups with no impact on local vehicle traffic.
10/5/19: Granted consent to Hillside Hose Company of the Morris Township Fire Department, for the 5th Annual Oktoberfest at Hayward Park, to be held on Saturday, October 5, 2019, 2:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., with authorization to serve beer at the event (a NJ ABC “Special Events Liquor License” has been applied for). The focus of the event is to foster volunteerism and recruiting in a fun, fall atmosphere. Written notification will be sent to the surrounding area.
10/20/19: Granted municipal consent for the Halloween Half Marathon and relay race that will take place on Sunday, October 20, 2019, at 9:00 A.M. (rain date Sunday, October 27, 2019) . Staging will be at the Verizon parking lot, Morristown; the course for the race includes portions of Woodland Ave., Herms Pl., Kitchell Rd, S. Gate Pkwy, Fanok Road, Mt Kemble Avenue, James St., and Loantaka Park. The sponsors will be Jackrabbit of Morristown, Normandy Real Estate, Dr. James O’Rourke Physical Therapy.
11/28/19: Granted municipal consent to the Interfaith Food Pantry to conduct the 6th Annual 5K and 1 mile walk Thanksgiving Turkey Trot Charitable Fundraiser on November 28, 2019 (rain or shine) with a setup time of 7:00 A.M., start time of race 8:30 A.M. at Ginty Field, Woodland Avenue. The 5K run/walk includes the following Township roadways: Dwyer Lane, Fanok Road, Symor Drive, Woodland Avenue, Kitchell Road, Spring Valley, South Street, finish time is approximate 11:00 P.M.(includes breakdown time) at Ginty Field
